Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki
Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki (September 1929 – 7 November 1998) was an Indian vocalist, composer and scholar of Indian classical, semi-classical, and devotional music. While he distinguished himself in Hindustani music, he is also credited for revival of the Marathi musical theatre in the 1960s.
He was endowed with a rich voice and has evolved a distinct style of singing Khayal. He was also well known for his rendering of Marathi natyasangeeth and devotional songs. He breathed new life to Bhakti Sangeet as well and considered as a trend setter. Though he lacked in having god given singer's voice, he more than made up in his art of presentation of various rare themes and popularized them.
